Spain & Gibraltar
Semester at Sea Update #3
Let me start off by saying the past two weeks have brought the highest highs and lowest lows on my voyage, thus far. We started off by being (essentially) denied entry into Spanish waters due to our high number of COVID-19 cases onboard but then we were delighted with a day (more like 10 hours) in Gibraltar! Oh… and I might have shaved my head (see above!).

QUARANTINE — Yep, it happened, the entire ship was forced into a four-day lockdown due to our COVID-19 cases. The Spanish Government let our ship officials know before we entered their waters, so (thankfully) we could quarantine onboard. However, that meant being locked in my cabin for four days with only 40-minute meal times & during the last two days we had an additional 30 minutes of “outside time.” I really took my freedom onboard and sunshine for granted — but not anymore. Over those four days, I organized (and reorganized my closet, finished two books, and tried not to go crazy by partaking in the TV-broadcasted Yoga at 20h00, nightly. But, just for a moment, imagine being locked in a 10x8 room with a small window and a roommate… yeah, I don’t want to do it again.
